This was our first year exhibiting at the Colorado Podiatric Medical Association’s annual meeting.  The meeting was held in Colorado Springs.  We we’re not sure what to expect.  We were pleasantly surprised with both the turnout and the program.  Since the meeting we have spoken with a number of Doctors who genuinely enjoyed the meeting and felt it was a large improvement over previous years.  Great job and thanks to all who worked to make this meeting a success for both the Doctors and Vendors.  Based on our experience this year we are planning on attending the 2010 meeting!

I’ve just returned from the Pacific Coast Podiatry Conference in Portland, Oregon.  I had the great pleasure of meeting Dr. Ken Cox the inventor of the Cox Metatarsal Spreader.  We spent a good deal of time together discussing the inspiration behind the design and how the Cox Metatarsal Spreader came into being.  I learned that before the spreader was developed the Metatarsals were previously spread by an assistant using two hand held retrators.  Often during the procedure one of the hand retractors would slip causing a bit of difficulty for the Doctor.  Dr. Cox developed the self-retaining Cox Metatarsal Spreader to overcome the challenges of the hand retractor issue.  With the development of the spreader a Podiatrist can now perform the procedure alone without the help of an assistant to spread the metatarsals and without fear of the metatarsals moving during the procedure.
